About Perpetua

Built by physicians.
Driven by possibility.

Perpetua is building a growing portfolio of cardiovascular innovations. Our work starts with unmet clinical needs and brings together medicine, research, and technology to develop what comes next.

The people behind the pulse.

Adarsh Balaji, MD

Adarsh Balaji MD

Founder, Inventor, and CEO

Adarsh is a cardiology fellow, physician-inventor, and the Founder and CEO of Perpetua. He conceived the company’s leadless pacemaker concept and established its broader vision: to turn problems encountered in cardiovascular care into technologies worth building. He leads Perpetua’s scientific direction, product strategy, and growing portfolio.

His work brings together electrophysiology, cardiac devices, and artificial intelligence, with research spanning machine learning, arrhythmia care, and heart failure outcomes. More sustainable cardiac pacing was the starting point. His vision for Perpetua extends across how physicians learn, how patients carry their cardiac history, and how the next generation of cardiovascular technology is developed.

Before cardiology fellowship, Adarsh served as Chief Resident and Chief of Research & Quality Improvement, helping lead resident education and administration while advancing cardiovascular research and heart failure care initiatives. His background in computational neuroscience gives him a distinctive perspective on clinical problems, connecting the mechanisms of disease with the possibilities of computation and device design.

At Perpetua, Adarsh sets the agenda for what comes next: identifying unmet needs, developing the concepts behind new projects, and shaping the path from an early idea to a clinically meaningful solution. His approach combines the curiosity of an inventor with the judgment of a physician and the drive to build a company whose reach grows with the problems it can solve.

Ahmed Hassan, MD

Ahmed Hassan MD

Co-inventor

Ahmed is a cardiology fellow, physician-inventor, and co-founder of Perpetua. His role is rooted in the clinical side of innovation: defining the problems worth solving, shaping technologies around the realities of cardiovascular care, and helping move promising ideas toward clinical application.

At Perpetua, Ahmed works across clinical strategy, device development, research collaborations, and validation of the company’s technologies. The company’s leadless pacemaker platform grew from a simple clinical problem: today’s devices remain limited by finite battery life. For Ahmed, that question reflects a broader goal: to develop technologies that solve problems physicians encounter every day and improve how cardiovascular disease is treated.

His medical training has taken him through the United Kingdom and the United States, and he previously served as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine before beginning cardiology fellowship. That experience in clinical medicine, education, and leadership has shaped how he approaches innovation, with an emphasis on practicality, clinical relevance, and ultimately patient impact.

Ahmed has helped guide Perpetua through patent development, scientific presentations, and national innovation competitions while building relationships with clinicians, engineers, and researchers who can help bring its technology closer to the bedside.
